About Me
My name is Cheryl, and I'm a BPS and HCPC Registered Practitioner Health Psychologist. I'm also neurodivergent, and that means I understand what it's like to learn about your own neurodivergence, access diagnosis and work to manage your own experience. I have over 8 years of experience in mental health settings, and many years of experience in neurodivergence.
I provide a non-judgemental space in assessments, and also in support sessions by providing coaching and therapy. I believe in providing therapy with a heart, so my work very much centres you, your own experiences and in supporting you in the best way possible. Coming from a health psychology background, I also provide a holistic approach to your wellbeing by caring about both your physical health and mental health.
In my professional and lived experience, I believe neurodivergence is a difference in the mind. It's a difference that can be aided by knowledge, acceptance and knowing how to manage your own challenges. My passion is in supporting neurodivergent people, their families and partners. When this support is there, neurodivergent people can fully thrive under the right circumstances, knowledge and support in place. That is exactly why Lindsey and I started Neurodivergent Diagnostics.
Aside from my practice-based work, I also work as a Lecturer in Health Psychology where I teach in Developmental Psychology, health psychology and also support the training and supervision of trainee psychologists. Autism and neurodiversity is an area I also research within my role in academia. Therefore, here at Neurodivergent Diagnostics, we are up to date with the latest guidance, research and thinking in how to best support neurodivergent people.
My Approach

Warmth, genuineness and compassion is at the heart of my therapeutic approach. I am trained in a variety of therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, practical coaching, and creative approaches.
These different approaches are evidence-based, and do demonstrate effectiveness when specifically tailored for neurodivergent individuals. Every person is different, as is their neurodivergence. Therefore, I integrate these approaches to support your individual needs and support you in setting achievable goals.
I am experienced in supporting my clients in assessments and therapy in a neuroaffirmative format. This means I do not require eye contact, support movement/stimming in sessions, and can work in a variety of ways to communicate.
